47th Annual Grammy's Held On Sunday

Even though it’s nominees and indeed winners reflected a younger crowd and clearly favored the rock and metal genre’s, this years Grammy awards just plain didn’t appeal to many and haven’t for several years now.

According to the Nielsen ratings, total tuning in tumbled 28% from last year’s tv turnout. Some fear this may hold true for the Oscar ceremony in two weeks. Ironically, this year’s Grammy’s were more in favor of live performances than actual awards. Lacking in live performances, save for best original song in a motion picture, the Oscars need to rely on the popularity of it’s MC, this year’s Chris Rock, to pull in and keep viewing audiences.

There could still be hope. One hopeful viewer brought to light the resounding lack of the Rivers’ to the primary broadcast saying “Who knows, without the old bag and hoe bag on the red carpet, I might turn the volume up and pay attention.”
