Adult Swim #1 on First Day

Cartoon Network’s late night animated block, Adult Swim has really
grabbed a foothold and made a case for animation lovers who aren’t 8
years old. The adult themed series offered on the channel include Fox
leftovers Family Guy and Futurama as well as original material like
Harvey Birdman and Aqauteen Hunger Force and fill in the gaps with
various anime imports.

The channel has scored consistantly high amongst viewers of the coveted
18-34 male slice of the Nielsens. On March 28th, the Atlanta based
channel went solo, in a way, asking to be considered their own network
despite only broadcasting for a portion of the day. The Nielsens agreed
and on their first day of independence, the channel outperformed every
other in it’s category ranking it number 1 among all ad-supported cable
networks. Oddly enough, it’s highest rated shows are those from
syndication, Futurama and Family Guy whose airtimes conflict with Late
Night with Letterman and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

I can finally feel comfortable admitting I’m a cartoon lover. Apparently, I’m not the only one!
