Nissan Gets the URGE for 360 Gaming

In one of the most creative cross promotions we’ve seen in a while,
Nissan and Microsoft have crossed a compact car with a game controller
to become the first REAL vehicle used to play a video game.

The Nissan Urge, currently only in concept and to be shown at the North
American International Auto Show on Jan. 9th, certainly has a concept
car feel to it. Sleek lines, sci-fi accents and the typical odd-looking
dashboard compliment this car designed to be reminiscent of a
motorcycle. Though not entirely new, the car will boast a built in Xbox
360, but unlike any other vehicle on the market, the steering wheel,
brake and gas pedals you’d use to go from your dumpy apartment to your
dead end job are ALSO the controls you’ll use to blaze around New York
City or Las Vegas in Project Gotham Racing 3 for the 360!

A
drop down LCD screen provides the sites while the cars stereo thumps
the sounds and whilst in park, you control the racing action without
leaving the drivers seat, quite literally. Nissan Design America
working with the guidance of Microsoft engineers have created an
immersive driving experience you just can’t get in any living room.

Done gaming? Need to get back on the road? The LCD’s image doubles as
the cars rear view mirror. Price tag? Isn’t one yet. Will they ever go
into production? With the demand for high tech add-ons in automobiles,
it’s very possible these could be out on the road someday, provided
people can learn the seperation between fantasy racing and everyday
driving. You know that feeling you get when you hop in the car right
after playing Burnout, Gran Turismo or even Mari Kart? Yeah, we thought
so.
