Phantom'Console Threatens Web Site

Many geeks have heard of news on a still yet to be proven console, known as the Phantom. It’s manufacturer, Infinuim Labs, promises their new, all encompassing console will beat any current console not only in sheer number available in it’s software library, but in computing power as well. It’s only image is a 3D rendered pic available on the company website. Too good to be true? HardOCP, a site not unlike our own (with more money and more employees), did an article back in September of 2003, stating very clearly, the facts on the company, it’s CEO and it’s product. Needless to say, it wasn’t in the brightest of lights. Devoid of editorial opinion, the article reveals that Infinium Labs not only has any semblance of a real office building or manufacturing plant, but the addresses they provide for such places don’t exist. In response (albeit very late), Infinium Labs has sent 2 seperate cease and decist letters to the web site, claiming defamatory statements and libel and threatening legal action. Despite direct and continued offers to correct any mistakes or untrue statements in the article, Infinium Labs has yet to respond with anything but legal threats. We will continue to watch this story as it unfolds.
