Legislation to Make Movies Start On-Time

Connecticut state rep, Andrew Fleischmann is annoyed that when he shows up for a 7pm movie, he is treated to 15 minutes worth of commercials and 10 minutes of trailers before the picture starts. He describes it as “being robbed of our freedom of choice”, although that seems a bit extreme. It’s agreed that we are incredibly annoyed at having to pay jacked up ticket prices to be treated to Levi’s Jeans and those God-awful Fanta girls in our faces before the flic begins. It could even be considered false advertising, giving a false, actual start time and an accurate run time.

Fleischmann is so upset that he is going to lengths to push federal legislation to force theatres to either accurately print start time, or better yet, print ad start and preview start times, to fully inform movie-goers. There has been no printed reaction yet from theatre companies or advertising agencies.
