Passion Breaks Records…Numbers Now Official

The numbers are no longer estimates and things have greatly changed. Read the correct numbers and records now listed below.

The Passion of the Christ opened to $83.8 million this weekend. With a high of $33.1 mil for just Saturday. This marks the biggest February opening every, beating out Hannibal from 2001 which made $58 mil. The five day total comes in at $125.2, just slightly ahead of the previous record holder LOTR: Return of the King which made $124.1 just this past December.

Most R rated films have a difficult time making record breaking grosses because of the audience restrictions. Passion proves that it is possible as it paves the way for future movies.
