Secret Policeman’s Ball Comes to States, Airing on EpixHD

The Secret Policeman’s Ball is a UK benefit show held nearly every year to raise funds for the human rights organization Amnesty International. It’s been held almost annualy in England since 1976 in various forms and directly inspired philanthropists like Bono and Sting to stage their own benefit shows. 2012 marks Amnesty International’s 50th anniversary and to commemorate the occasion, the show will take place in the United States for the first time. The one night show at New York’s Radio City Music Hall opens Sunday, March 4th and will stream live via the EPIX video subscription service for Xbox 360, roku, Android, iPad and other device owners.

Performers will include American comedians Fred Armisen, Hannibal Buress, David Cross, Bill Hader, Rashida Jones, Seth Meyers, Bob Odenkirk, John Oliver, Andy Samberg, Sarah Silverman, Statler & Waldorf from Disney’s The Muppets, Jason Sudeikis and Kristen Wiig plus British comics Noel Fielding, Micky Flanagan, Peter Serafinowicz and Jack Whitehall. Other musical and comedic stars performing will include Coldplay, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Mumford & Sons, Russell Brand and Reggie Watts.

New users can sign up for a 14 day trial here which, if timed corrctly (i.e. now is a good time) will get you access to the comedy/music extravaganza as well as hundreds of titles from Paramount, Lionsgate and MGM, striaght to your web browser or mobile device. Restrictions apply and all that (like your television provider has to carry the EPIX channel to get streaming beyond the trial) so check the website for specifics.
