Shrek 3 News

It should come as no surprise that Dreamworks Animation would want to
follow up their wildly succesful Shrek franchise with a trifecta
(because no good movie should be without a trilogy). Also less than a
shock is the return of Mike Myers as the the ogre himself, Cameron Diaz
as his lovely green wife Fiona, annoying but lovable Eddie Murphy as
Donkey, Antonio Banderas’ smooth talking Puss in Boots and John Cleese
as King Harold, Fiona’s father. New to the not-so-fairy-tale story is
Diaz’s real-life boyfriend (at least for now) Justin Timberlake.

Ex-hearthrob Timberlake plays Fiona’s cousin Artie, otheriwise known as
a young King Arthur, whose attitude and manners to becoming royalty are
even worse than Shrek’s, but since he relates so well to the stinky
oaf, it becomes Shrek’s job to teach the boy what it is to be noble.

The film is scheduled for release sometime 2007, so it’ll be some time
before we see if it can live up to the previous films. A statement by
Jeff Katzenberg last year during a question and answer session in L.A.
hinted to a 4th sequel, revealing Shrek’s origins.
