Star Wars DVDs, Sept 21!

Rumors and speculation have been running rampant over the last month about a a phantom announcement regarding the Star Wars DVDs. Not only highly anticipated, but also controversialized are the holy trilogy of Sci-Fi, that many thought it was either a release date for the collection, an announcement about what versions they intend to include, i.e. the “Han Shoots First” original or special edition ‘enhanced’, or a load of bull.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the story this morning and NIX Geek alerted me. The rumored announcement has indeed been made and the Original Trilogy DVDs will be released on Sept 21st for an unspecified price and will include a bonus 4th disc with new footage and a new documentary at the very least. This is HUGE news for any film buff and even bigger for Sci-Fi fans. Any nerd worth his silicone will tell you that since DVDs were invented, these are the only movies that really ever mattered. It is expected that the work done to present these discs will overshadow every other DVD. A hint on the quality and feature packed goodness can be glimpsed in the work done on the Indiana Jones Trilogy, released late last year.

The question still remains unanswered, however: Which version is included? Stay Tuned.
