Transformers 3-peat. Seriously

Picked this little tidbit off of Variety.com through a reader. Transformers 2 may still be a few months off and there’s really no telling how successful it might be. Okay, so the first one printed it’s own dollar bills, but still. As if there was some crystal ball at Paramount/Dreamworks, the announcement came today that there will indeed be a 3rd and they’re already claiming a release date: July 1st, 2011. Really?

“Not to worry”, you might think. “I’m sure they’ve got a good script and the returning star-power”. You’d be wrong though. A writer has not been hired and neither Shia LaBeouf, uber-hottie Megan Fox or Michael ‘Blow-everything-up-and-let-the-movie-goers-sort-it-out” Bay have been signed to the pic.

As if that didn’t sound ridiculous enough, it was also announced that Spider-Man 4 would grace us with it’s presence on May 6th of 2011 flanked by the Thor AND Captain America movies. I’m all for Marvel’s Avengers push, but Spidey 3 was a textbook example of how a good franchise goes bad (or emo). The spider is dead, wad up the paper towel and toss it in the trash.
