X3 Lands Another Captain

Less then a week after X-Men 3’s second director left the production, another has been put in place. This time Brett Ratner,
known for the Rush Hour trilogy (3rd movie due out next year), has been
hired by Marvel and Fox to take up the reigns from Matt Vaughn who took
them from Brian Singer.

Singer originally left when he was
offered to do a new Superman, while Vaughn left feeling that he
couldn’t up and take his family on the road. Ironically, Ratner was one
of the first directors considered to run the first X-Men film. Yet
another twist reveals that Ratner has been working for the past year
developing Superman Returns for the big screen.

Circle of
life perhaps? Regardless, Ratner has his hands full for 2006 already,
with a 3rd Rush Hour, a new film entitled Josiah’s Canon and a TV pilot
in production. Still, we’ve got high hopes for Ratner, a self
proclaimed comic-geek who started out as a music video director.
