Million Dollar Baby

Clint Eastwood returns to the big screen in a multifaceted way. Not
only does he star in his movie, Million Dollar Baby, but he also
directed the film and wrote the score. Eastwood sure seems to be
getting better with age. Last year his film Mystic River was nominated
in several categories for the Academy Awards…and this film will more
then likely be the same way.

Hilary
Swank plays a thirty something stubborn Maggie Fitzgerald that is
determined to be a great boxer. She follows Frankie (Eastwood) around
trying to get him to train her and he is finally convinced. He is a
hardnosed ex-boxer turned trainer that really seems to lack heart. He
helps train her even though he constantly reminds her that he does not
train girls. Their relationship grows and so do her skills. Morgan
Freeman plays ex-boxer Eddie Dupris who runs Frankie’s gym for him and
is the closest thing that he has to a friend.

This film
follows the dark style that Eastwood has grown popular for and really
down plays the idea of special effects to focus more on relationships
between people and the emotional bonds they form. This trio of actors
does a great job with the film and Swank will definetly get nominated
for another Oscar for this role…and she might even win her second one
considering she already won the Golden Globe.

This movie is an
emotional roller coaster that starts off a little slow, but please stay
in your seats and watch it till the end…you will then understand why
I said that you need to.
