A Story on Galaxies

GameSpy.com has been publishing a series of articles that follow the trials and tribulations of the Star Wars Galaxies since it’s release. That article, quickly becoming something of a novella, tracks both developer and gamer and the struggle in finding the balance.

Even though I quit the game several months ago, the changes quoted by developers in order to balance the system that SHOULD have been included in the box, are intriguing to say the least. Developers are saying now that they intend to rewrite the code, rather than to just simply patch things, particularly involving the path to Jedi-hood.

The article(s) touch on the challenges of any MMORPG, clearly stating that soon after a game is released, it’s no longer one of the developers, but one of the gamers who are paying monthly for the service.

It’s a good read.
