COD: WaW PC Beta Goes Live

For many of those that signed up after Activision’s announcement, today is finally the day to play. As I type this, I’m downloading the 845 meg beta in the hopes that the PC version of Call of Duty: World at War (don’t you dare call it COD5) will wow me more than the 360 version of the same title. For me, it boiled down to more of the same.

Developer Treyarch takes the reigns from Infinity Ward and created a high quality shooter with plenty of single player and multiplayer goodness, but let’s face it. The game might as well be a World War II mod for CoD4. Did someone forget to mention the reason CoD4 did so well was in large part due to a war game FINALLY taking place in the relative here and now.

WWII shooters are more plentiful than AOL trial discs and often just as sought after, I’ll still review this one fairly, but its hard not to go back to the standard that still tops the shooter charts.
