Game Demo Erases Memory Card

Reports started popping up around the net this morning that the 2004 Holiday Demo Disc sent to members of the Playstation Underground was causing a little problem.

More specifically, the Viewtiful Joe 2 demo, when played will wipe without tolerance any memory cards, in any slot of the PS2 being used. The cards aren’t being irreversibly damaged and can be reformatted to be used again, but that isn’t making gamers any happier.

A call to Sony’s help desk confirmed that there is a problem with the discs, however they have not yet made an official statement to address the issue or to compensate for those affected.

In the meantime, feel free to try out the other demos, Jak 3, Ratchet & Clank UYA, Star Wars Battlefront and ATV Off-Road Fury 3. Either that or remove any memory cards before you play.
