Half Life 2 to Challenge Halo 2

Sequels sequels everywhere. Vivendi announced this morning in a press release thir planned street date for the much delayed Half Life 2 of November 16th. This comes as a slight shock to the gamer system, since among the reports of further leaked HL2 code and fighting amongst the distributirs and developers had caused speculation to assume a February 2005 launch.

The new release, a world wide simultaneous bonanza, comes exactly one week after Bungie and Microsoft are set to place Halo 2, the follow up to the best selling Xbox game in history, on shelves November 9th.

Both games are expected to create benchmarks for the PC and Xbox respectively, boasting graphics, sound and gameplay above and beyond all previous outings into the genre. Here’s hoping. So far, although Far Cry and Battlefront have been good apppetizers, Doom 3 left a poor taste in our mouths this year. The hype puts both Half Life 2 and Halo 2 as the main course and desert as we near 2005.
