Microsoft Recalls Xbox Power Cords

Microsoft officials announced this morning that the software giant will voluntarily replace Xbox power cords worldwide to anyone who purchased their systems prior to October 23rd, 2003 (European recalls include consoles prior to January 13th, 2004). That represents some 14 million Xboxes sold in that time.

Several cords were tested to be faulty, the failure rate was about 1 in 10,000 boxes that were effected. According to Microsoft, the faulty cords have caused minor burns and damage to property, like singed carpeting. 30 such cases have been reported, prompting the recall.

If you need help in determining if your box might be included or you’d like to file a claim you can get more info at Xbox.com or by clicking here. Non-U.S. customers, please visit this address.
