Warface Free-To-Play Coming to the West

Crytek studios announced today that their free-to-play FPS (FTP FPS?) would be making its way to western shores in 2012. The near-futuristic military shooter was thought to only be available in China until now. Warface boasts a ground-up free-to-play business model for PC players and features an ever-changing universe for multiplayer co-op and hot, class based player-on-player action.

Looks like my hyphen key is getting a work out. Warface represents something of a milestone. Powered by CryENGINE®3, it’s Crytek’s intention to bring first-rate, next-gen visuals and production values to a free game. There’s not a lot of details on the title quite yet, but the first screens scream your typical “brown” shooter a la Call of Duty or Battlefield with the occasional battlemech thrown in for good measure. The video shows even less, but a free title from Crytek deserves some attention.

Have a look at teaser and a few screens below. For more, head over to http://www.warface.com.
