Worms 4: Mayhem Slithering into Europe

[img13 right]Team 17, developers of the cult hit series of Worms games are launching their newest incarnation, Worms 4: Mayhem, into European homes in the second quarter of this year, but only for PAL consoles. Codemasters will be taking the reigns for distribution.

[img6 left]Mayhem is a celebration of 10 years for Worms fans and a return to the gameplay that made the game so popular and unique. Last year, Team17 pressed out Worms: Forts Under Seige to less than stellar acceptance. It’s gameplay strayed from angle-power-fire gameplay it’s predecessors thrived on. Instead, it acted as more of a real time strategy and faded into mediocrity.

[img10 right]Still, this new heaping helping of squirming goodness is a welcome sight, bringing the accesible gameplay and passive, cartoony violence to living rooms. New features include the ability to build and customize weapons and individual worms in a team and pit them against others in a 3D environment. 4 players can go head to head to head to head in a battle supreme for some heavy multiplayer party action.

We’re looking forward to a US port of the game. No word yet regaring on-line playability.
