A Walk in Our Shoes

Ah youth. I guess it wasn’t so long ago that I was young and ridiculously ignorant. Here in the city of angels, we’ve seen students in the thousands skipping class to protest a new bill proposal that would, among other things, make illegal immigrants and those that harbor them (i.e. give them jobs, hide them, etc.) felons. So these kids, typical high school know-it-alls and their followers, are walking out of class to roam the streets in packs carrying Mexican and US Flags in protest.

The interviews are priceless. Some are afraid their illegal parents are gonna go to jail. Others believe the economy would fail without illegal workers. Most are just happy to be out of class. How proud their parents must be.

Yes, this country was built by immigrants. Yes, it would suck for mommy or daddy to go to prison. However, having a child in the states does NOT give you the right to citizenship. Oh and by the way all you high school kids… THIS ISN’T JUST ABOUT MEXICANS! This is immigrants across the board.

Put it this way, if a white guy walked into your house, someone you didn’t know, started doing your weekly chores and got paid half of your allowance for it, wouldn’t you be a little pissed off? No more PS2 games for you. No more Taco Bell after school. Forget that new iPod.

Howz that grab ya?
