Star Wars Wins Emmy

At this year’s Creative Arts Primetime Emmy awards ceremony, animator Genndy Tartakovsky of Powerpuff Girls and Dexter’s Lab fame, received two of the golden statuettes at last night’s awards ceremony.

The first award was presented in the Best Animated Series Under One Hour for his artistic Samurai Jack series. The second award was for Best Animated Show Over One Hour, given to the Star Wars: Clone Wars mini-series, both of which aired on Cartoon Network. The series helps to carry fans into the final installment of the prequel movies, due out Spring of 2005.

Both awards were major accomplishments, each of them beating out the nominated and typically dominating Simpsons series on Fox.

On the Star Trek side of things, sort of, 72 year old William Shatner received his first Emmy, something never accomplished during his Captain Kirk days, for a role he played on ABC’s The Practice.

More nominees and their winners can be found on the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences website.
