AMPAS announces winners
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences technical awards committee (AMPAS) has released their Technical Awards for 2003.
An Oscar Statuette for Academy Award of Merit has been awarded to Digitaldesign for their Pro Tools digital audio workstation The Award of Merit states that the Pro Tools workstation will become a worldwide industry standard for editing Motion Picture soundtracks.
Academy Plaques were awarded for Scientific And Engineering Awards to Kinoton Gmbh for his development of the Kinoton FP 30/38 EC II Studio Projector. Also awarded Academy Plaques were Kenneth L. Tingler, Charles C. Anderson, Diane E. Kestner, and Brian A. Schell of Eastman Kodak Co. for their collaborative efforts to control static during film processing (and anybody who has worked with 35mm stock knows that static is a killer). Christopher Alfred, Andrew Cannon, Michael C. Carlos, Mark Crabtree, Chuck Grindstaff, and John Melanson were also awarded plagues for their developments with digital audio editing.
