Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Begins Production
Tim Burton and his crew started filming in London today on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The film is due out in July 15, 2005. Johnny Depp will star at the eclectic candy man, Willie Wonka. This will be Depp’s fourth movie with Burton; others include Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, and Sleepy Hollow. Charlie will be played by Twelve-year-old British actor Freddie Highmore, who costars in the films “Two Brothers” and “J.M Barrie’s Neverland,” and portrayed the young King Arthur in Turner Network’s mini-series “The Mists of Avalon.” Other stars include Helena Bonham Carter, David Kelly, Noah Taylor, James Fox, Missi Pyle and Christopher Lee.
Hopefully there will be some production shots available soon. I am curious to see the candy factory and how Burton can darken up something so colorful in the original movie.
