Daily Casting Report – 12/14/2004
Robert Duvall (Secondhand Lions, Open Range, Falling Down) and Katie Holmes (Pieces of April, Phone Booth, Go) have joined costar Aaron Eckhart (Paycheck, Erin Brockovich) in “Thank You for Smoking,” for director Jason Reitman (Consent, Gulp).
Hilary Swank (Boys Don’t Cry) will join Josh Hartnett (Wicker Park) and Scarlett Johansson (Girl with a Pearl Earring) in the sultry leading role in “The Black Dahlia,” for director Brian De Palma (Scarface) from the James Ellroy novel of the same name. If James Ellroy or The Black Dahlia doesn’t ring a bell, then perhaps his other novel-turned-huge-film titled “LA Confidential” might.
Rob Letterman (Shark Tale) has signed up to pen “The Unprofessionals.”
Writer-director Austin Chick is set to adapt and direct Arthur Nersesian’s novel “Manhattan Loverboy.”
Rumor Romps:
Joss Whedon (Titan A.E., Alien: Resurrection, Toy Story) is in negotiations to write and direct a film adaptation of “Wonder Woman,” even though is also rumored to be the next director for X-Men 3.
Kristin Davis (Three Days, Sour Grapes) and Julia Louis-Dreyfus (TV’s “Seinfeld”) are trying to sell themselves into “Sellevision,” a film adapted and directed by Mark Bozek from a novel by Augusten Burroughs.
