Kong Extended Edition

Peter Jackson’s recent blockbuster, King Kong, was anything but short. The ape spawned lines of moviegoers that rivaled Lord of the Rings despite it having a 3+ hour run time. Jackson’s fans were delighted that so much more was available on DVD in the form of bonus features.

Guess that’s not enough though. Due out 10/14, Universal will release not one, but two additional DVDs that promise a whippoing 16 deleted scenes (40 minutes total), commentary by the filmmaker and mini-featurettes that delve even further into the special effects behind the overgrown gorilla.

Expect to be sapped for another $35 (34.98) for King Kong: Deluxe Extended Edition and a whopping $80 (79.98) for King Kong: Deluxe Extended Limited Edition that includes a figure of the monkey created by the artists behind the effects at Weta.

At what point does the title of a disc become ‘too’ ridiculously long. What’s next, Uber-Deluxe Extended Ultimate Limited Edition? The final count will make it 5 different versions for one movie. We shamelessly link to two.
