Kurt Kut From X-Men 3?

Drawing some speculation around the net is a brief but pointed blurb posted on Alan Cumming’s official web site. It states:

EX X MAN!! Alan will NOT be appearing in X3. Fox has not picked up his option to play Nightcrawler for a second movie.

The
3 short sentences are neither specific, nor backed by comments from
Fox. IGN FilmForce followed up on the rumor to receive even more
cryptic quotes from Fox saying that Cumming’s Kurt Wagner, a.k.a.
Nightcrawler, has not been renewed quite yet. In other words, no one is
talking.

Cumming is best known for his comedic roles, but was
a standout in X2 : X-Men United as the troubled Nightcrawler. Despite
the production troubles (now in it’s third director) the third in the
series is scheduled to begin shooting in May of 06.
