Oscar Nominations Are Here!
With the 78th Annual Academy Awards just over a month away, yesterday
Mira Sorvino and Academy President Sid Ganis announced the lucky
movies. This is definetly a year of the independent movies.
Brokeback Mountain leads the pack with 8 nominations, including one for
Best Picture. Each of the other nominees for Best Picture each
have at least 5 nominations.
This year we see a first with George Clooney being nominated for Best
Director of “Good Night, and Good Luck” while also being nominated for
a Best Supporting Actor Role in a different film, “Syriana”.
The big surprise for me was the fact that “Walk the Line” did not get a
nod for Best Picture. I feel that it is definelty one of the
years best and deserves to be given the opportunity to play with the
other big dogs.
The winners will be announced in a live show from Hollywood on Sunday
March 5, 2006. We will also be posting our third annual Oscar
contest within the next we or two. Make sure that you stay tuned
for your chance to win.
