The Geek's Oscars
Winners for the Academy Awards were announced today. No, not the acting/directing/picture ones, but the technical awards, traditionally chosen weeks before the big Hollywood to-do we see on TV.
These are the awards give to the scientists and engineers that develop the technology behind-the-behind-the-scenes. Camera equipment, computer software, audio processing and the like.
The evening was hosted by self-proclaimed “supernerd” hottie, Jennifer Garner of Alias (she majored in chemistry). Winners included Stephen Regelous for his software, Massive, which was utilised to generate many thousands of stampeding warriors in The Lord of the Rings.
