X-Men Spinoffs in the Works
After a record breaking weekend for X-Men: The Last Stand,
rumors of spinoffs are beginning to be confirmed. Today USA Today
reported that there are several different spinoffs in the works for the
franchise.
The main one is Wolverine.
Hugh Jackman has signed on to continue his role as Wolverine and to
co-produce the film. Jackman thinks that production will begin
next year. The story will more then likely focus on his back
story about how his original bones were replaced with a metal skeleton.
The other two spinoffs are still in the script phase and are not
necessarily official yet. One would be about Magneto and his
backstory. Ideas for the film revolve around Ian McKellen
reprising his role as the older Magneto, but having someone younger
play him in his younger days. The next idea is to focus more on
Xavier’s School and the children that go there giving them a movie that
is not about national security, but more about their lives at school.
A fourth rumored spinoff would be about Emma Frost and her special
powers that enable her to turn her skin into diamonds. Emma Frost
did not appear in any of the movies, but has a large role in the comic
books.
With the ending of the film, it definetly leads to spinoffs, so it is
nice to see that Twentieth Centure Fox will carry on a good
franchise. It is not often that we see good franchises
continue. Usually it is the bad ones that get the sequels.
