Microsft, Kia Motors Team Up for E3

This year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) is being heralded by some as a return to form after a couple of years of trimmed and slim ho-hum announcements and lackluster showings from major industry players.

To stimulate the upturn (and perhaps earn a little ad revenue) Microsoft has partnered with Kia Motors America to cover the show on Xbox Live and give out a few prizes. Beginning April 18th, Xbox Live members can download a special gamer-pic to be entered into a drawing for a VIP trip to LA to attend the show in addition to a few other juicy prizes like an Xbox360 Elite console and a 47″ HDTV. Additionally, Kia is giving one lucky player a brand new 2010 Kia Soul.

This will mark the first time the expo will be covered on Xbox Live, similar to their coverage of the Game Developers Conference in February 2008. Kia will also be a featured sponsor visible on the NBA Live 09 title out in June to coincide with the NBA Finals.

Sounds like a good move to me on both parties. Anything’s got to be better than the abysmal Toyota Yaris “game” that came out a while back.
