Brought to You by the Letters I, B and M

So the big announcement came and went. Turns out IBM has been churning out and shipping the Broadway processor, custom designed for the Wii, to Nintendo since July. Kudos to them for keeping the secret for so long. May only be three weeks, but still impressive.

Anyway, so this is leading professional speculators to expect a Wii release much sooner than expected despite a continued lack of announcement from the Mario-makers. Next week’s New York event should remedy that, but scuttlebutt ’round the net suggests a surprise shipment. How great would it be for gamers and for Nintendo if the system were to be on store shelves in 2-4 weeks?

Again, nothing official, but its certainly possible if the other bits and pieces of the system had already fallen into place and the units have been boxed and are waiting in trucks as I type this.
