CEO Apologizes for Delay with Freebies
Another precedent is being set today. Last week we got word of a game being release earlier than expected. Today however, a publisher apologizes for the delay in their game by giving those who pre-ordered not only their money back, but a free game of their choice to boot. Now THAT’s customer service.
Telltale games, best known for the most recent Sam & Max and Back to the Future episodic adventures had planned to bring the first episode of Jurassic Park: The Game to PCs everywhere, but had a last minute change of heart. Whether it be because they feel the title needs improving or that they’ve made some sort of breakthrough on their engine or something else entirely, they’ve pushed back the release date and made a grandiose apology to their loyal customers.
CEO of Telltale Games, Dan Connors:
We’ll be investing the extra time into making the game great and it will be released simultaneously on every platform this fall. We regret any disappointment on the part of our fans but we are confident you’ll be pleased with our decision when the game comes out.
This has been a hard choice for us, but it is the right decision. To thank you for your continued support of Telltale and for your pre-order for Jurassic Park: The Game we are going to issue you a 100% refund. In addition to your refund, we are also giving you your choice of any Telltale game free of charge because you are important to us. We will begin issuing the refunds over the next couple of days and will reach out to you with information via email on how to get your free game.
Now that’s just refreshing. Mr Connors, my hat’s off to you.
