Come to COD XP, Get Modern Warfare 3 Free
People have mixed feelings in the war between the Battlefield and Call of Duty franchises. Despite a few hiccups, my personal choice lies in Activision’s court. The Modern Warfare line of games in particular have set the bar for FPS from graphics, to sound, to online experience. To help usher in the 3rd game of the series, Activision announced Call of Duty XP convention back in June. Attendees can participate in a million dollar tournament, partake in a burger from the game’s fictional fast food franchise and throw-down paintball style on fields designed to look and feel like maps from the existing games.
For the biggest of fans, $150 a ticket isn’t terrible, especially when you factor in the price any regular day of paintball comes out to. All of the proceeds go to charity, but today, Activision sweetened the pot. Everyone in attendance not only gets to see the full final reveal of Modern Warfare 3, play the title at demo stations throughout the event, but they’re getting the game too. Event goers will receive a special redemption code for a free copy of Modern Warfare 3 Hardened Edition when it becomes available worldwide on November 8th.
There’s no telling what the Hardened Edition includes. Only a few pack shots have been released and the size of the box would indicate something more than just a disc, either that or Activision is making a bold anti-environment statement. MW2:HE included extra maps, collectible art-book avatar outfits in a steel casing for an added 20 bucks. More is said to be revealed at the convention, happening September 3rd and 4th near Los Angeles.

Man wish I could have went to this, but alas so far away and so much that might have kept me from going even if it was close by. Hopefully those in attendance got some great gifts, including MW3 for free!
