Guitar Hero 80's edition
Talk about your bad timing. Being a small operation here at Media Geeks, I decided to save a bit of capital and sell my PS2 versions of Guitar Hero and its sequel in order to have the funds for the updated Xbox 360 version of the rythm game. I didn’t figure I’d miss the second guitar and with downloadable content, I assumed I could pick and choose my favorite tracks from the original game.
Hindsight being 20/20 and all. I should have kept Sony’s version. Activision announced this summer is going to rock that much harder by releasing Guitar Hero: Rocks the 80s, exclusively for the PS2 (Oh woe is me). Sporting new venues, new characters, new guitars and most importantly, 30 new tracks from a time when Hair Bands roamed the earth. Metal, punk and new wave are being represented. Here’s a quick list:
- I Wanna Rock (by Twisted Sister)
- I Ran (by Flock of Seagulls)
- Round and Round (as made famous by Ratt)
- I Want Candy (as made famous by Bow Wow Wow)
- Metal Health (as made famous by Quiet Riot)
- Holy Diver (as made famous by Dio)
- Heat Of The Moment (as made famous by Asia)
Fans, take note: I may be reading into this, but did you notice next to the first two songs the lack of ‘as made famous’ verbiage? Hmmmm… and it looks like they aren’t finished with the 80’s either. According to Dusty Welch, Head of publishing at Red Octane “As we delve deeper into the history of rock, we’ll continue to offer a fresh experience and even more explosive tracks with the Guitar Hero franchise.” 90’s perhaps? Great Moments in Metal? Kickin’ in Country? Here’s hopin.
So you PS2 shredders got lucky. 360 pluckers, let’s just hope the eclusivity applies to an actual disc and NOT downloadable content.
