Namco Throws Down with Urban Reign

Due out Fall 2005, Urban Reign for the PS2 adds another original fighting title to Namco Hometek’s already strong lineup.

Described as a “take no prisoners” street fighter, Urban Reign puts
players in the role of a hard nose street brawler hired by a local gang
to protect its leader. The turf-war backdrop gives way to some bloody
fights in back alleys, junkyards and dive bars, all with destructible
elements and weapons the player can use to their advantage.

60 fighters use a combination of fighting styles like boxing,
wrestling, street fighting and martial arts with over 30 weapons like
bottles, bats and 2×4’s. Players can team up with a computer controlled
fighter to execute combos and maneuvers that will progress them through
the hundred or so levels of solo combat in story mode.

Multiplayer will likely be the bigger draw, which supports a the Sony
Multi-Tap to get up to 4 players in the urban ring for some party
slam-fests. Keep an eye on Namco’s homepage or with us here as more becomes available.
