New Maps for COD4 – Coming Soon
2007’s clear winner in the FPS wars was Activision’s Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. It finally pushed the previous king of shooters, Halo 3, down to the number 2 spot on the Xbox Live most played list and shot up the charts both critically and by gamer standards. The modern storyline, superb sound and graphics, up to date weaponry and an online multiplayer game-style that incorporates experience point-based leveling leaves little to be desired.
So what are players whining about? What else… new maps. Ask and ye shall receive. Activision announced today that downloadable maps for COD4 on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 will be made available on their consoles’ respective online services sometime this spring.
Infinity Ward’s Community Manager, Robert Bowling: “We’ve demonstrated our commitment to delivering the best multiplayer experience in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and that continues with our plans for new downloadable content. We’re excited about the new maps, and the added gameplay variety, and we can’t wait to wrap things up and get online with everyone.”
Great news, but what should we expect? New locales? How many players? How many maps? How much? Not a peep on any of the details, but this is good news for the battle hardened looking to spice things up, particularly those 10 time Prestigers out there.
