Nintendo News Bites – October 2004

Hitting store shelves this week are 4 classic NES titles turned GameBoy Advance carts: Dr. Mario, Metroid, Zelda II:The Adventure of Link and Castlevania. The 4 games from the late 80’s should sell for $19.99 each are are all appropriately rated “E” for everyone.

In for holiday shoppers, the Nintendo GameCube will be bundled with the wildly popular Mario Kart: Double Dash racer starting November 14th. The bundle will retail for $99.99, a savings of about 30 bucks if you were to purchase them seperately. Frankly, we think it would be a better value had they also bundled the network adapter with the unit, but the price is decent nonetheless.

Nintendo also announced their new media blitz for the upcoming dual screen Nintendo DS. The new slogan, “Touching is Good” is likely to stir up a little controversy. The clearly questionable phrase refers to the touch screen component of the new unit, rather than a sexual deviant. Perrin Kaplan, Marketing VP for Nintendo of America:

“When you’re a kid you’re always told you can’t touch anything. Touching is good. You’re grown-up now, so read it how you want.”

Yeah, still sounds kinda creepy.

Finally, GameCubeEurope has a whopping 115 screenshots for Mario Power Tennis, 81 are new today, showing off the newest 4 player party style game. The screen shots look as if the game developers have been partaking in Mario’s ‘shroom stash. Still, looks like some mass fun. Check em out.
