Spin all 93 Tracks in DJ Hero
I’ll preface this by saying, I’m not sold on DJ Hero. It’s a music game requiring yet another proprietary peripheral about a section of the industry that isn’t so much about making music as it is modifying it. That’s not to say I’m discounting the talents of DJs around the world, but any real DJ will tell you that the art is in the improvisation of mixing and tweaking existing tracks to do their whim. A concept that is completely lost in a game that relies heavily on following a set path of button pressing and pattern matching.
Now, I’m sure I said something similar about Guitar Hero when it first came out, and I’ll be the first to admit, I LOVE the GH and Rock Band games enough to the point that I’m writing this with a real 6-string just a few inches away that I’ve been learning to play for the past few years.

A few of these do actually catch my eye. I happen to like Daft Punk, and I’ve been known to sing along with the Beastie Boys, even Rihanna (but don’t tell my wife). Still, I don’t expect to drop a grand on my own mixer and turntable setup anytime soon.
DJ Hero: developed by FreeStyleGames, published by Activision for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PS2 and Wii is slated for release October 27, 2009
