Xbox 360 and PS3 Getting GoldenEye
Well, here we go again. If you’ve ever laid a thumb on a console first person shooter in the last 15 years, you’ve probably either heard it compared to or done your own comparison to Goldeneye on the N64. Trouble is that despite it holding the crown for multiplayer shooters, it doesn’t hold up well to today’s CoDs and Halos. I found the remake for the Wii to be considerably lacking. Somehow that means “let’s give it another shot” in game developer speak.

Eurocom, under license from 007 owners EON Productions and MGM Studios announced at Comic-Con that the title would be resurrected yet again, this time for the Xbox 360 and PS3 title using the latest high definition graphics and sound, with visuals running at 60 frames per second. GoldenEye 007: Reloaded will also feature the original story campaign with an added campaign dubbed “Mi6 Ops Missions”.
Multiplayer isn’t missing. A four player split screen will be present for local parties, as will 16-player online matches with new new maps, weapons, characters and modes not found in the original.
Judging by the initial screenshot, it’s a much improved look from the recent Nintendo attempt, but I foresee problems if the controls aren’t well adapted to this generation’s consoles’ precision and the fluidity of motion players feel natural with.
Still, I can’t help to be intrigued by these screens and the preview video. Expect to see it in stores this fall.
