Xbox 360 TV Introduction
As mentioned earlier,
the Xbox 360, Microsoft’s Next-next-generation console was introduced
to the world at a party televised from Los Angeles and hosted by Elijah
Woods.
The show was mostly media fluff, featuring celebs and
bands getting to play the first versions of launch titles not expected
until December 2005. It did give a few first glimpses to said launch
titles as well as several design iterations that were scrapped for the
more favorable port and wire-less concave case it officially sports.
We caught a few glimpses of un-announced titles happening in the
background. For example, a segment that took interviewers to Rare
studios in the UK revealed Conker’s Bad Fur Day on a plasma screen
behind the interviewer. We’ve already been told that Conker will make
his debut on the Xbox this summer, but nothing has yet been said about
a 360 version. Might this be a clue to the 360’s backwards
compatibility? Along the same lines, during a sneak preview of the
360’s new Xbox Live Marketplace, the MS rep mentioned downloading
Perfect Dark: Zero and Halo levels. Perfect Dark has been announced,
but nothing on a Halo for the 360. Though likely Halo 3 will find it’s
way to the system, it could also be a hint towards the backwards
compatibility question plaguing gamers.
Either way, we’ll find out for sure at E3 in a week. In the meantime, take a look at some of the key moments from the show.
