Nobody to play Superman

A virtual newcomer, Brandon Routh has been confirmed to play the lead role in Brian Singer’s upcoming Superman feature film. Rought has done only small television roles, including parts on Will & Grace and Gilmore Girls. Soap fans might recognize him as Seth Anderson from One Life to Live, a pretty boy 20 something with the signature Superman jaw.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, screenwriter Dan Harris says that Superman Returns (the tentative title) will not go into the Man of Steel’s origins this time around. “Our view is if you’re over 25 years old, then you’ve seen the Reeve films and that’s Superman to you. If you’re under 25, then you watch TV’s ‘Smallville,’ and that’s Superman to you.”

Harris does promise to stay in the same vein and continue where the Reeve films left off. “We’re taking off from the first two Superman films with Christopher Reeve. We use his history and then move on with big twists and great special effects.”

That’s a lot of promises for a movie still 2 years away. And what of the “Superman Curse“? {Queue creepy music}.
