THX 1138 Clean-Up, Re-Release and DVD

Found on Coming Soon.net, Warner Home Video and American Zoetrope, the company George Lucas and Francis Ford Coppola started together, plans to re-release a much cleaned up version of THX 1138, Lucas’ first big screen attempt.

THX 1138: The George Lucas Director’s Cut will come to theatres this fall in limited release to promote the special edition DVD. Planned bonuses include behind the scenes footage of the filming that took place in the BART tunnels of the San Francisco Bay Area, as well as Lucas’ original student film, “Electronic Labyrinth THX 1138 4EB”. The story centers on a human of a bleak and sterile future and comments on breaking from society’s conforming grip.

You can expect to see the theatrical release in major cities, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Boston, Seattle and San Francisco among others. Hopefully, Lucas has decided to keep the film unchanged, only cleaning and polishing the video and sound, rather than adding special effects, as he has been known to do.

We’ll let you know.
