Bungie releases 5 new Halo2 multiplayer maps

As some readers may not be aware of, a handful of the staff here at
MediaGeeks plays Halo2 on a regular basis. Much to the delight of those
geeks, 5 more multiplayer maps have been released by Bungie.

A number of weeks ago, the Bonus and Killtacular map packs were
released via Xbox Live. The Bonus map pack included 2 free maps.
Containment, which consists of a large snowy battlefield between two
bases, and Warlock, a medium sized room of ramps & platforms. The
Killtacular map pack contained 2 maps as well, but until recently, cost
$5.99 to download. Maps included in the Killtacular map pack are named
Sanctuary and Turf. Sanctuary is a large, stone like structure split
into two halves with a small pool of water in the middle. Turf is an
urban warfare type of maps, with hallways, a handful of open spaces and
a lot of places to hide.

Released today, is the
Maptacular map pack, downloadable via Xbox Live for $11.99. Unlike the
previous two map packs, each containing 2 maps, this pack includes 5
additional maps (Gemini, Relic, Elongation, Terminal, and Backwash).
Gemini is a map set in a space location described as a “meditation
refuge” used by the alien race of the game. Some fans of the original
Bungie FPS, Marathon, may notice some similarities. Relic is another
beach location (like Zanzibar) where an alien dropship has crashed.
Elongation is somewhat of an upgraded version of Longest, much like
Coagulation is to the recent Blood Gulch. Unlike Coagulation, this one
takes place on an orbiting space station, ripe for all types of
multiplayer action. Terminal can only be described as what used to be a
mall, now war torn and damaged by the aliens. Finally, Backwash, as the
name leans towards, takes place in a damp swamp location.

With Halo2 having a widely attended midnight release, followed by
stunning sales, along with 3 additional map packs after it’s initial
release, it’s no surprise why Halo2 is considered, at least among the
staff at MediaGeeks, as one of the best games on the Xbox. Look for
screenshots and a review on the new maps.
