Cruise, Kong and Comics

Went to the west coast premiere of War of the Worlds last night with Andy, Bryan and the MG gang.
Walked the red-freakin carpet and everything. Caught glimpses of Will
Smith, Tony Hopkins, Jason Lee, Matt Perry, David Hasselhoff, Tom
Cruise and Katie Holmes. Katie and Tom give all new meaning to the
words “attached at the hip”. It’s like they’re trying too hard to
appear as a couple. Whatever. Hollywood BS. Movie was good though.
Wasn’t Batman good, but it was good for a sci-fi thriller. I thought it
was missing something, though for the life of me I couldn’t tell you
what it was. It just felt lacking as a whole. More thoughts in Todd’s review.

Saw the King Kong trailer too. It aired simoltaneously on 9 channels
last night to hyper-market it alongside Volkswagen. The trailer can be downloaded on vw.com.
This is the first time I can say I’m honeslty looking forward to a Jack
Black movie. Cheers to Pete Jackson for keeping the Kong story in the
1930’s time period where it belongs. Costumes look as good as the
effects.

Looks like I’ll be hitting Comic-Con
in my home town this year. Bry is going with Paramount and I’ll either
tag-along as his guest or work my press mojo for passes to wander the
grounds. I don’t usually have an interest in Comics, but in recent
years the ComicCon has melded into film and gaming Cons, so I should be
able to get some stuff for MG.
