Down to the Wire

People like to hear when someone else is getting married. I think it’s
similar to the whole watching-a-car-crash thing, only less morbid. The
closer the day comes, the more people keep saying “are you insane yet?”
and laughing. More than once I’ve wanted to say “yep” and slug em hard
in the face, utilizing the temporary insanity ploy in court to defend
myself.

The truth is, I…rather we, are going nuts. Last night’s activities took us out till 2am with the follwing:

  • Disasembling a recently completed cake topper because it was a half inch too big.
  • Using a rotary tool to cut a circle of plywood from 6 inches to 5.5 inches in order to fit the top of the cake.
  • Using a steak knife to cut down a disc of styrofoam from 6 inches to 5.5 inches in order to fit the newly cut plywood.
  • Pulling my hair out because, although printing on regular paper
produced perfectly aligned pages, printing the placecards on the
heavier, bordered card stock, did not.
  • Searching the apartment for the honeymoon papers, tickets and
necessary information, apparently lost into the ether during the move.
  • Resending the images to our cake guy that will be created in frosting for the cake.
  • Re-Re-sending previously mentioned images.
  • Wondering if the burnt wood smell is ever gonna come off my arms.

My beautiful and patient woman finishes things off today, including
several last minute errands, then leaves for San Diego tonight. I leave
Wednesday night, hopefully with stomach under control.

Yes it’s very close now. Yes its the final countdown. Yes I’m nervous,
scared and nearly crapping myself. Thanks for asking. Got any Vicodan?
