Clone Wars Animated DVD and More

A press release from LucasFilm yesterday announced that Genndy Tartakovsky’s beautiful animated series that bridges the gap between Episodes 2 and 3 will not only get it’s own DVD, but will also go into an official 2nd season.

The DVD, due out on March 22nd will contain all 20 episodettes, weighing in at 3 minutes each, finishing with a 5 minute ender. The micro-series first aired on Cartoon Network in 2003 as 3 minute clips in lieu of commercials at the top of the hour. The new format paid off and gathered millions of viewers to watch for a solid 3 minutes to get a glimpse of how the Clone Wars and Anakin’s fall to the dark side began to shape.

A bit less expected however was a continuation of the series, but LucasFilm, Cartoon Network and Dexter’s Lab creator Tartakovsky will present Volume 2 to begin airing on the animation station March 21st.

Looks like 2005 is going to be the Year of the Jedi.
