Disney Says Less to Moore

Disney has pulled the plug on Mirmax’s production of Michael Moore’s
upcoming film, “Fahrenheit 9/11”. Although Disney has not yet
offiically commented on the deal, Moore has been more than active in
attacking Disney on the decision.
Matthew Hiltzik of Miramax stated that they are working with Disney to
come to an, “amicable” resolution to this situation. Miramax picked up
the film last year after Mel Gibson’s Icon productions pulled financing.
The New York Times quoted Moore’s Agent, Ari Emmanuel, as saying that
Disney pulled the production on fears of tax deal reciprocity.
In a
statement posted to his website, Moore states, “This struggle has been
a lesson in just how difficult it is in this country to create a piece
of art that might upset those in charge.” He continues, “I would have
hoped by now that I would be able to put my work out to the public
without having to experience the profound censorship obstacles I often
seem to encounter”
“Fahrenheit 9/11,” is a critical movie on Bush’s
Iraq policy, and also shows connections between Bush and Osama Bin
Laden’s family. Not a surprising connection, as Bush’s family is widely
known as Texas oil Tycoons, as is Bin Laden’s family. Wild conspiracy
connections are a consistant theme for Moore, where he blamed the
actions of a Detroit child murderer on NRA leader Charlton Heston in
Moore’s last film, “Bowling For Columbine.” The title is based on
Bradbury’s novel “Fahrenheit 451,” which is a book about censorship.
