Kevin Smith Plans Clerks Sequel

Kevin Smith officially announced plans for a sequel to his debut film, “Clerks,” calling this release the “antithesis of ‘Jersey Girl,'” referring to his latest release staring Ben Affleck, Liv Tyler and George Carlin.

The sequel, titled “The Passion of the Clerks” will return Jeff Anderson as Randal Graves and Brian O’Halloran as Dante Hicks as they struggle through the meaning of life while still working at meaningless jobs. Also slated to return is Jason Mewes as the ever popular (and shockingly absent from Jersey Girl) Jay.

Before you die-hard fans go nuts with protecting the flavor and the essence of the original film, don’t worry. Smith states that he has given serious thought to this sequel, but felt compelled to answer the question, “What ever happened to those guys”. He goes on to jokingly state that they are “going to do it insanely inexpensively. The budget will be somewhere between 250 grand and $5 million,” continuing on to say that “This time around we’ll afford ourselves the luxury of nice 12-hour days. And people can get paid.”

Shooting is slated to start in January.
