Master Chief Coming Soon to Theatres

The HALO franchise of Microsoft games is arguably the most financially and critically succesful video games in the last decade. The games have collectively sold over 18 million units and has become synonymous with the Xbox.

Hollywood wants their chunk too apparently. According to Variety, Microsoft has hired 28 Days Later scribe, Alex Garland to adapt the games to the silver screen. The deal is open ended with the thought of churning out a screenplay to offer to the highest bidding studio. The expectation is for Microsoft to duck out of film development, giving control to the studio and its filmmakers.

Thoughts from developer Bungie were oddly absent from the article.
