Two Different Revenge of the Sith's?
With one of the most anticipated movies for the year being just over
six weeks away there seems to be a flurry of news coming out. The
latest news comes from theforce.net
talking about their being two different versions of Star Wars: Revenge
of the Sith when it hits theatres on May 19th. The two versions
would be film and digital. With the new age advances changes to
the digital version can be made up until a week before the movie comes
out, unlike the film which is nailed down at lest 1-2 months in
advance. This allows Lucas to make any changes that he still
wants to right up until a week before the release.
The other aspect is that Lucas has always favored new advances in
technology and has often thought about only wanting his films to be
released in digital projection. Keeping this in mind Lucas might
want to reward those theatres with the advanced systems and give them a
different and possibly longer version.
There were two different versions of Attack of the Clones, but they
were not enough to have people clammoring to see both versions; digital
and film. The most notable difference being
Padme holding Anakin’s mechanical hand during the wedding scene.
